Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): BamHI--20.0, 16.0, 9.2, 2.8; EcoRI--20.0, 14.0, 9.2, 5.6; HindIII--23.0, 10.0, 7.8, 1.6; SacI--20.0, 9.2, 5.6, 4.6, 2.8, 2.5, 1.0 (doublet); XhoI--20.0, 14.0, 9.2, 5.0. The insert contains the following restriction sites (approximate kb from the 5' BamHI site): BamHI--2.8, 18.7; HindIII--9.5, 17.5; EcoRI--13.7. A 0.6 kb XhoI/PstI fragment has been used as an alpha-specific probe. The 3.8 kb EcoRI/HindIII fragment contains sequences characteristic of the A2m(2) allotype constant region and its 5' flanking sequences. The 1.1 kb HindIII/BamHI fragment contains the transmembrane exon. The insert begins just 5' to the sequences encoding the epsilon constant region and extend approximately 4.3 kb beyond the exons for the alpha chain. Additional GenBank/EMBL accession numbers: M35287, M35291. |
