Carries plasmid pG72/T1 with wild-type gene
MSM1 is the nuclear gene encoding the mitochondrial methionyl-tRNA synthetase.
The smallest region capable of complementing a msm1-1 mutation is defined by a KpnI-PstI fragment of approximately 3 kb from the middle of the insert, and spanning the BamHI and XbaI sites separated by 1.2 kb.
The probe, pG72/T1, has been deposited in Escherichia coli RR1 as ATCC 37663 and in Saccharomyces cerevisiae C122/U3 as ATCC 66319.
