Comments
Grows in several types of tissue culture including BS-C-1 and L929 cells. CF may be useful. Agent is sensitive to broad spectrum antibiotics, but not to penicillin or Gantrisin. Not related to other rickettsial groups. Grows poorly in chick embryos.
Effect on Host
BS-C-1: tends to become carrier culture if cells are split at weekly intervals
Mice: lymph node swelling, wasting, death
