This construct contains nt 3133-5840 (gene 1) of bacteriophage T7.
M13mGP1-2 (ATCC 40303) can coexist in the same cell as the two plasmids of ATCC 67287, pGP5-5 and pTrx-2. The T7 RNA polymerase of M13mGP1-2 can be used to regulate expression of T7 DNA polymerase by inducing the RNA polymerase with IPTG.
M13mGP1-2 (ATCC 40303) is similar to pGP1-2 (ATCC 40175) except that gene 1, T7 RNA polymerase, was ligated (using BglII and SalI linkers) to BamHI-SalI cut M13mp8, placing the gene under control of the lac promoter.
