Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): EcoRI--2.7, 1.4; BamHI--2.9, 1.2; BamHI/EcoRI--2.7, 1.2, 0.2.
Using a 5' PGC probe (nt 50-398 of insert) 6.0 and 1.2Kb bands were detected with an SstI Southern hybridization. A 3' probe (nt 1083-1305 of insert) revealed a single 1.8Kb band.
The 5' PGC probe (nt 50-398 of insert) and the 3' probe (nt 1083-1305 of insert) revealed the same 27.0Kb band on a HindIII Southern hybridization.
The insert contains 50bp 5' UTR followed by the 1164bp progastricsin ORF and finally 137bp of 3'UTR (excluding the polyA region).
