These strains were developed primarily for mapping UAA and UAG suppressors, choosing markers that are approximately 30 cM apart.
rna strains are temperature-sensitive; they grow at 23C but not at 36C.
pet strains are unable to grow on non-fermentable substrates.
pet14 strains are leaky.
cyh strains are able to grow in the presence of 6 micrograms/ml cyclohexamide, but the expression of the cyh phenotype is somewhat suppressed by respiration deficiency.
gal strains may turn yellow.
