One of the PstI sites flanking the insert was lost in cloning. A PstI/AvaI double digest will excise all of the insert but about 75 bp at the 3' end. Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): HindIII--4.4, 0.9; PstI--5.5; PvuII--3.6, 1.9; EcoRI--5.5. The insert encodes the repeat units alpha14 to alpha18 of the gene. |
