Restriction digests of the clone give the following sizes (kb): SmaI--10.3; HindIII--8.0, 2.1; EcoRI--4.5, 3.15, 2.25.
This vector is one of three lacZ reporter plasmids that contain UAS (upstream activation site) elements (ATCC 87511, 87512 & 87522). They differ by polylinker sites.
DNA fragments can be inserted into these plasmids to screen for DNA elements that reduce promoter activity.
The vector was constructed by Lenny Guarente.
